Led by Isaac Michan and Alexandra Bové, the small studio has grown into one of the most ambitious and recognized rising practices in Mexico and North America, with consistent awards and recognition. Michan Architecture’s portfolio is nearing two dozen built projects, growing through collaborations with architects, landscape architects, engineers, builders, makers, and specialty consultants.
From the outset, the firm established itself as both experimental and rigorous, with early commissions like the award-winning, low-income Z53 Social Housing and Pavilion ( ) demonstrating a commitment to design excellence at every scale, program, and budget.
Our work is defined by a search for conceptual clarity and material innovation. Responding to project realities and pursuing possibilities, our approach takes into consideration the physical, cultural, and economic dynamics at play in a range of environments, such as high-density urban conditions, suburban contexts, rural territories, arid zones, and tropical landscapes.
Multifamily architecture and design makes up the majority of Michan Architecture’s experience. Recent developments include C294 Apartments (adaptive reuse), DL1310 (new construction), and ODP APT (new construction), among others. Pursuing unique identities for each site, we have several multifamily designs underway with JV82 APT - our tallest project in Mexico City - recently topping out and set for completion in 2026 (new construction).
Scenic Garden / Jardín Escénico, our first arts and culture project, has received several accolades, including Expansión’s 2024 Most Innovative Project of the Year and Architectural Digest México y Latinoamérica’s “Iconos del Diseño 2025” (Icons of Design) in the Landscape Architecture category.
From cafés and resturants to short-term rentals, our work with hosptiality-focused clients includes a mixed-use building anchored by a restaurant and a retail store with a coffeeshop, as well as smaller interior environments like HIYA, OKU, and Luma Café.
Beyond Mexico City, Michan Architecture is in the construction stage for a series of small houses overlooking the picturesque Pacific Coast, for an international client, and designing our first project in the U.S., a ground-up event center in a natural setting, for a hospitality group.
